Sandy Shortridge

Unit Coordinator and Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development

Education and Degrees

Sandy received a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2010 from King College in Bristol, Tennessee and a Master of Science Degree in Career & Technical Education from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia in 2005. Her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, was obtained in 1990 from Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. In 1979, she also received an Associate's Degree in secretarial science from Southwest Virginia Community College located in Richlands, Virginia.

Work Experience

Sandy was employed by Virginia Cooperative Extension in July 2000 as an Associate Extension Agent in the area of 4-H Youth Development.  In 2006, she was promoted to the position of Extension Agent.  She was appointed to the role of Unit Coordinator for the Buchanan County Extension Office in 2009.  Her previous experience includes eight (8) years as a marketing representative for American Electric Power, six (6) years as a volunteer coordinator and public relations secretary for Buchanan General Hospital and six (6) years as an operating room technician/secretary also for Buchanan General Hospital.  Prior to accepting her present position she managed the Main Street Teen Center located in Grundy, Virginia.
